ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ
Hi everyone,
I've recently started studying Sahidic Coptic, and I've noticed that beta in Sahidic is always a hard 'b' whereas in Old Bohairic it is usually pronounced 'w'. This results in certain words like ⲉⲃⲟⲗ and ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ being pronounced differently to their Sahidic counterparts (i.e. in Sahidic, its 'ebol' wheras in OB its 'ewol'). So which is it? Is it possible that there is a pronunciation rule which keeps beta as hard 'b' in words like ⲉⲃⲟⲗ?

Ⲛⲟϥⲣⲓ
Hi,
we used to say ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ when we are leaving (like bye or peace)
beta in sahidic is not always B, this is a common mistake
there is many evidences that Ⲃ was some time pronounced F
one the most important reason is that, Ⲃ and Ϥ used to interchange
Also in Boahiric we pronounce the letter ⲉ as short a not e
