Complicated questions this time
« on: 09 August , 2007, 10:54:04 PM »
So, I have yet another question... or two... But these questions are a lot more complictaed then the old ones.
THe first question is about the word ⲣⲁⲛ.
I want to know how you would say a sentence like:
My friend's dog's name is Luci.
Would it be something along the lines of this:
Ⲡⲓⲣⲁⲛ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲫⲉⲣⲓ ⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲗⲟⲩⲥⲓ
which I'm not even sure is right. Bascically what I'm trying to figure out is how to express several different possesives in the same sentence.
I fell that my answer may lie in the fact that ⲣⲁⲛ can also be the prefix ⲣⲉⲛ- but that opens up new questions. Is this prefix put in front of a name ot the thing that is to be named?
This also leads to my next question, about the word ⲟⲩⲟⲛ, to have. I know it can also be a prefix (ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉ-) but would the prefix to what is had (direct object), or the person who has it?

My friend's dog's name is Luci.
The Name of the dog of My Friend is Luci.
Ⲡⲓⲣⲁⲛ ˋⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩϩⲟⲣ ˋⲙⲡⲁϣⲫⲏⲣ ⲡⲉ Ⲗⲟⲩⲥⲓ

I know that ⲣⲁⲛ means name (noun)
but I didn't know that the word can be used as a verb
Please don't completely depend on the dictionary I gave to you, since its source is unknown to me(us)
-----------------------------------------
If you want to say "I have" you can be said in two forms
ϯⲟⲩⲟⲛ Or ⲟⲩⲟⲛϯ
"You have" can be said either like that
ˋⲕⲟⲩⲟⲛ Or ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉⲕ (male)
ⲧⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ Or ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉ (female)
and so on
ps:
we usually use the second form
ⲟⲩⲟⲛϯ                        ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉⲛ
ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉⲕ
ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉ                       ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ
ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉϥ
ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉⲥ                     ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲟⲩ

there is nothing called ϯⲟⲩⲟⲛ nor ⲕⲟⲩⲟⲛ nor ⲧⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ
it is ⲟⲩⲟⲛ something ⲛⲧⲏⲓ
      ⲟⲩⲟⲛ something ⲛⲧⲁⲕ
      ⲟⲩⲟⲛ something ⲛⲧⲉ
