Coptic (Bohairic) Spell Checking with Open Office

(1/3) > >>

moheb:
Now finally, it is possible to use OpenOffice with Coptic support:

- you can change upper/lower case
- you can install a spell checking dictionary (under development, but contains all words of the NT)
- works for any OpenOffice version (Windows & Linux)

Details about installation: www.moheb.de

Needs a Coptic unicode font!!!

Good Luck!

For the people who don't know what is OpenOffice
OpenOffice is something like Microsoft Office
OpenOffice is free and can be downloaded from here http://www.openoffice.org/
You can also find some screen shots here http://www.openoffice.org/screenshots/

Thank you Moheb

In my Linux Distro (Gentoo) it didn't work until I realized that I need myspell dictionary installed so I have done so
the directory in Gentoo also differs  it is /usr/lib/openoffice/share/dict
I have then changed the files permission to be 777 and it is working now

I have tested it and found an error
Ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉϣⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲓⲉ `ⲓ ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲕⲏⲓ
the word ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ here is underlined (actually the ϧⲟⲩⲛ part is the underlined) and spelling suggest adding another ⲉ to the beginning
picking this suggestion the work became ⲉⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ that funny this is that ϧⲟⲩⲛ is still underlined and give the same suggestion

Ϯϣⲱⲡ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲕϩⲏⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁϩⲏⲧ also gave me errors

Hi,

the files (cop_EG.dic  and cop_EG.aff) are written for hunspell, not for myspell
(hunspell is more powerful and supports complex concatenating of suffixes, which
is used intensivly in Coptic). Hunspell became also the standard spell checker
for OpenOffice, so in case you use it with OpenOffice, you don't need install
it, since it is integrated.

You can also use hunspell (stand alone). See my home page (www.moheb.de)
for more details.

Anyhow, you can send me the file you were talking about. Another remark: right now
the dictionary is very 'Jinkim'-sensitive. If a word in the dictionary has no Jinkim and you
write it with one Jinkim, then it is considered as wrong. It is possible to change the
syntax to ignore the Jinkim, but I find it better so.

Good Luck!
