Hello there !
« on: 21 June , 2009, 08:52:53 PM »
Hi there !

My name is Mark and I'm a university student in Montreal, Canada. I will major in translation and minor in Arabic. My father is from Alexandria, Egypt. My mother was also born there but she grew up in Beyrout, Lebanon. I want to learn Coptic because, despite that I grew up in Canada and that my great grandparents were from Aleppo, Syria, I feel attached to Egypt. Despite that I'm not a "true" Copt (Copt used to be used for all Egyptians regardless of their origin), I hope I can bring as much to this forum as you can help me.

Thank you all

Mark

P.-S. Do any of you know where I can find a keyboard with an Arabic layout? I only have one with a French layout and despite that I can set the they keyboard to Arabic, it would help me a lot since it's confusing to know by heart that ض=q, etc.

Hello Mark,
Welcome to our forum
Its great that you know some Arabic that will help a lot
I believe that learning a new language must be by a teacher
but until now, i don't know the possibility of giving online lessons
anyway if you think you can study by books and tapes
in this topic you will find some lessons (called kami lessons)
http://kame.danacbe.com/index.php/topic,4.msg18.html#msg18
that will be a good start
regarding your question about Arabic keyboard
I guess this photo is what you want

Thank you very much.

I tried the link you sent for the kami lessons and the files didn't work. Do you know what could be the problem ?
