Egyptian Emphatic Articles
« on: 27 September , 2009, 05:27:05 PM »
ⲛⲟϥⲣⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ

Most of the conjunctions we use are Greek in origin and I've been trying to find ways to replace them with authentic Egyptian equivalents. I found several Coptic particles: ⲟⲛ ⲣⲱ ϫⲉ and ϩⲱ but they all seem to have varied meanings. I understand that they can be used instead of particles like ⲧⲟⲧⲉ, ⲁⲗⲗⲁ and ⲇⲉ but I'm not sure how. Could somebody explain this to me?

ϯϣⲉⲡˋϩⲙⲟⲧ ˋⲛⲧⲉⲛⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ

ⲙⲁⲣⲉ Ⲫϯ ˋⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ

the word ⲣⲱ is usually used to say "itself" or "same"
examples:
ⲈϤϪⲰ ⲘⲠⲀⲒⲤⲀϪⲒ ⲢⲰ ⲞⲚ.
saying the same thing once more. (Matthew 26)
ⲈⲨⲦⲀⲘⲰⲦⲈⲚ ⲈⲚⲀⲒ ⲢⲰ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϨⲒⲦⲈⲚ ⲠⲤⲀϪⲒ.
reporting to us the same things by word (Apostles 15)

and so on, i checked the dictionary and it says it can be used as "but","at last","even",...
but I can't find any text that prove that, I will check crum maybe it has some examples

ⲟⲛ means also
ϫⲉ has many uses but AFAIK (As Far As I Know) none of them can replace the greek words u mentioned
ϩⲱ= take pronoun and its means "also"
for example ˋⲛⲑⲟϥ ϩⲱϥ (he also or he himself)

man I wish if we can really replace those Greek words
