What is *nut* in Coptic?

Admin:
Just because English has a general word that cover all kind of nuts doesn't mean Egyptian should have the same.
Even Arabic doesn't seem to have one. the current word in Arabic "Mekasarat" litrally means "broken things"

Maybe you will have a better luck if you search for a specific kind of nuts?
also worth mentioning that nuts in general are not planted in Egypt and so probably not so many text (if any) would mention it

I found several words now which mean *nut* in Coptic; they are all taken from Greek:

ⲕⲁⲣⲩⲛⲏ: in a Fayyumic document
ⲕⲁⲓⲣⲉ: in a Sahidic document
ⲕⲁⲣⲟⲓⲁ: in three Sahidic documents
ⲕⲁⲣⲁⲩ: in a Lycopolitan (Subahmimic) document

Although I used to learn the Sahidic dialect first, I personally use the Bohairic now. As such, I take ⲕⲁⲣⲩⲛⲏ because the Fayyumic is closest to Bohairic.

The book translates nut, nux, as καρια(a variation of καρυον, pl.καρυα) and gives various names of specific nuts.
