Dr Nabil Mikhail Markos is veterinarian who worked as a science teacher. He taught conversation in Coptic language at the Institute of Coptic language (est1954). He has published three books one about the grammar of Coptic language, and the other about conversation in Coptic language. He was one of the most fluent speakers of Coptic language in the late 20th century and early 21st century. His conversational style in Coptic language was rooted in sound grammatical structure, clear enunciation, fluency and clarity, with clear differentiation between vowels, as well as clarity of enunciation of consonants. He spoke the reformed pronunciation (Greco-Bohairic pronunciation), and had accurate enunciation of t, d, th, dh, v, p etc.
He had a lot of respect to Dr Kamal Farid Ishaq and Dr Emile Maher Ishak and he would never show disrespect to those who had different opinions than him.
His vocabulary relied on the dictionary of Crum , Scala Magna by Ibn Kabar , and a few newly coined words by Claudius Labib.
Dr Nabil Mikhail Markos was dismissed from the Institute of Coptic Studies in the 2010s. The main apparent reasons was due to with Dr Kamal Farid Ishaq . The dismissal was highly criticised as an unfair dismissal as Dr Nabil Mikhail Markos did not have any controversial opinions.
He died in 2020s, leaving a strong legacy of excellence in Coptic language fluency and a formidable history of teachings. Je was loved and revered by many
